On an island Campsite in Algonquin Provincial Park. You must canoe (with at least three portages) to get here.
Accessible by canoe or kayak, expect a trip of approximately 13km in from the Kiosk Access Point. The route includes 3 portages (265m, 275m & 1355m) Plan to stay the night on one of the many excellent camp sites on Manitou Lake near the cache (nearest is 50m away on the Island)
The cache is located at the base of a white pine near the shore of the island. Approachable over land from either of the island's campsites, or directly from the water. It's a camouflage painted .30-cal ammo can filled with mostly camping related geocache items.
This is a Difficulty 5 Hide. It is also a 30cal Ammo Can. It is not sitting out there in the open. It is nestled safely, supported by the roots of a tree. It is covered by a flat rock or two to keep it secure. Falling pine needles will totally obscure the hiding spot in a matter of days. Check out the spoiler photo below if you want to ensure you find it.
We (Reynoldsburg Troop 277) placed this cache while on our week long high adventure trip to this beautiful place.
To get here you will need to go through three portages, and should plan on camping at least overnight. Watch out for the mosquitoes that come out in hordes at sundown, and there are leaches in the rocks at the waterfront.
Warning: Spoiler Photo Below!
