Geocache Description:

The third in a series of Seattle baseball-themed caches.  This is a two-stage puzzle cache ending in a small cache with a log. The original owner listed it as a multi, not a puzzle cache, and listing guidelines require it be kept that way.

Caches in the "Ball" series
Ball One: Sick's Seattle Stadium
Ball Two: Kingdome
Ball Three: Safeco Field
Ball Four

The coordinates posted bring you to an interesting location just outside the Safeco Field parking complex.  The location is freely accessible twenty-four hours a day.  There is nothing hidden at this location, just components of the puzzle you will need to solve to get to the final.  You are looking for a large permanent point of interest.  When you get there, you'll need to solve a bit of a puzzle that tests your knowledge of Seattle pitchers.   No need to comb through statistics for this one, just familiarize yourself with each of these pitcher's styles --- what pitch are they best known for, what is their signature pitch, particularly during their Seattle career.  The years played are not needed to solve the cache.
Name Key Career Seattle Team / Years
Jim Bouton B 1962-1978 Pilots 1969
Erik Hanson H 1988-1998 Mariners 1988-1993
Randy Johnson J 1988-active Mariners 1989-1998
Kazuhiro Sasaki K 2000-2003 Mariners 2000-2003
Jamie Moyer M 1986-active Mariners 1996-2006
Rafael Soriano S 2002-active Mariners 2002-2006

Using the starting waypoint (listed cache coordinates) and your knowledge of the above pitchers you should be able to derive numeric values for the keys in the table.  From those values, you should also derive numeric values for the following keys:

W = (J-S)+B
X = (B-H)+J
Y = (K-B)+S
Z = (B-M)+J

Note:You will note that there are a total of ten keys -- one for each digit. Not all of them are used for the final coordinates, but you might want to compute all of them to make sure you solved the puzzle correctly.

The coordinates to the final micro-cache are: N 47° 3K.JSH W 122° 1W.ZYW'.The final cache is on public property, freely accessible 24-hours a day, and within a baseball's throw from Safeco Field.  The cache container is a hide-a-key.

Sign the log and don't forget to write down the third and final clue. You will need all three clues from this series to find Ball Four.
