CERTAIN Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

scoobydooers: I have decided to archive this cache because I am not able to maintain it properly due to the towns ordnance prohibiting commercial vehicles in the parking lot. The cache has been around since holloween 2003. a very long time indeed. hopefully someone else will place a cache nearby and I will get a chance to visit again.

Thanks for the memory's

It is said that there are only two things that are for certain, Death and Taxes. This cache touches on both.
The physical cache is located in the woods behind the playground but the main reason I brought you here is the parking lot. You see at this exact location back in 80’s stood the Chatham Township Tax assessors office. which was well known to be haunted.
The story that was published in the paper told about some weird happening going on in that building. people who called the Tax assessors office early in the morning, before business hours, would be greeted by a very old woman answering the phone, when asked if they had the correct number for the Tax assessors office a cold voice would reply “Not Yet...” and then the line would go dead. it wouldn't hang up the line would just go dead. some workmen were dispatched to check the wiring to see if there were a problem with the phones, while working in the attic the men came across a painting of a rather homely woman. the men joked about the woman and said that she was ugly. at that exact moment all of the phones in the building would ring. and they would not stop ringing even when you picked up the handset. This continued until the men left the building, and then just as quickly as it started, the phones returned to normal. The tax clerk hung the painting in the office and all was well, until someone else made fun of the person in the painting, then the phones would act up again. As you stand in the parking lot and look around you will notice that there are no other homes nearby. yet often in the morning you could smell bacon and eggs cooking inside of the building.
There hasn't been a kitchen inside the building since it was converted to an office so where did the smell come from? Some people reported early in the morning to have seen an old woman in the 2nd floor window, looking out of the drapes, but when they turned their head to look again she was always gone. In the late 80’s early 90’s the township of Chatham purchased a school building over on Myersville road and combined all of the township offices into the same complex. soon after, this building was razed and the property was turned into overflow parking for the park.
Its been very quite since then. I guess without the building to tie her to this earth, the old woman had nothing left.
