Harry Potter and the Cache of Secrets
How Geocaching Works
Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer
This is a short multi designed to be suitable for parents and children. The main cache is an ammo box at N41°12.ABC W95°55.DEF and each of the three micros has a logbook in an altoids size container. Each micro contains two of the missing co-ordinates on the inside front cover of the log book and a one word hint on the inside back cover. The micros can be done in any order but the order listed makes for an easier drive/walk.
Warning: Do not attempt the final cache at night or if snow is covering the ground. There is a sinkhole near one of the routes to the final cache so please show some caution on your way to the final location.
Each of the Hogwarts houses has hidden a secret cache. The first three involve finding the location and solving a puzzle. The final cache requires finding the caches for the other houses first.
Stand where the skulls of the ancients are buried beneath the sands of time.
Cross the bridge, climb the stairs, and look out over the tunnel.
Past the trees and into the courts of the forest king.
The Southeast corner of the steel barrier hides Ravenclaw's secret.
Up within the Octogon
Gryffindor's magic stands
To look over the river
And watch over distant lands.
But Slytherin's secret hides within
The haunted tree's protection.
One hundred fifty feet away
In a Southwesterly direction.
Start: N41°11.996 W95°55.970
HufflePuff's secret has one last test
cross the maze and take a rest.
Sit and think about your day
The prize is but inches away.
Notes: No bushwacking is required and there are multiple parking lots along the way. Nothing is in an area I wouldn't visit with my 4 year old son so if you're looking over a cliff edge, then back away. Any and all feedback is appreciated.
Cache: N41°12.ABC W95°55.DEF
ABC & DEF can be found in front of the logbooks for Ravenclaw, Slytherin, and Hufflepuff. A one page hint can be found in the back of those logbooks.
The cache is a standard ammo box with a logbook, various trade items, and a small pile of galleons.
(No hints available.)
