Geocache Description:

Vissefjärda socken var förr ett viktigt gränsområde i handeln med Danmark. Det var här den så kallade "Dackefejden" utspelades 1543. Fejden som leddes av Nils Dacke berodde på stort missnöje mot kung Gustav Vasa. Nils Dacke var född i byn Hult i Vissefjärda socken. Dackestenen står intill Vissefjärda kyrka och är en symbol för "Dackefejden". Stenen kommer från Nils Dackes gård i Södra Lindön. På stenen återfinns en armborst som symboliskt pekar mot Stockholm.

Vissefjärda parish has long time ago been a very important border district concerning the trading with Denmark. It was in this neighbourhood the so called "Dackefejden" took place 1543. This was a civil war led by the farmer Nils Dacke and the reason was dissatisfaction with King Gustav Vasa. Nils Dacke was borned in the village Hult in Vissefjärda parish. The Dacke memorial stone is located close to Vissefjärda church. The stone was brought here from Nils Dacke's farm in Södra Lindön. On the stone there is a crossbow symbolic pointing toward Stockholm.
