Captain Wapato's Treasure Hunt Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

Team Noltex: This cache has had a great run, but Captain Wapato has sailed off into the sunset and retired. Glad that so many of you have enjoyed it over the years. This will open up Wapato park for some great new caches.

Geocache Description:

A nice walk almost entirely on paved/gravel trails in one of Tacoma's best parks, Wapato Park. This is a fun, family friendly multi-cache.

Aaaargh mateys! Get ready for an adventure. Legend has it that the dread pirate, Captain Wapato, left a treasure in the park named for him. He has left clues to important locations in the park leading to the hidden booty. Captain Wapato has taken great pains to see that those scallywag muggles don't pillage his treasure chest.

Drop anchor in the north parking lot. The coordinates be N47 11.818 W122 27.352. Head to the first of four waypoints, the Pirates Hide Away Lookout, which be the published coords. Captain Wapato, who wasn't the world's brightest pirate, left a series of brass plaques to lead you to the treasure.

Follow the coordinates as you check the dock to see what ships might there be in Port to plunder, then walk the world's longest gang planks on the way to the Poop Deck.

At the Poop Deck (sorry, no facilities available) line up the marks on the spyglass base. Avast! The treasure be behind the tree that ye see! Exactly 55 steps will get ye there. Gold doubloons, pieces of eight and precious jewels await ye.

Fail not to give the spyglass a spin before weighing anchor, lest ye end up in Davey Jones' locker! Yer ship awaits ye on the other side of the field.
