This Cache is located off the Appalachian Trail on Waywaywanda Mountain. The steep ascent along this rocky trail makes this a strenuous 2.8 mile round trip hike.
Suggested parking is in the A.T. parking lot on route 94 at: N 41 13.168 W074 27.318 Begin by following the white blazed Appalachian Trail ascending gradually through a field. The trail enters the woods and begins to climb more steeply along a rocky path. The trail has some nicely placed stone steps along with numerous switchbacks. The trail climbs about 900 ft and levels off at about 1.3 miles. Follow the blue blazed side trail on the left that leads .1 mile to the Pinwheel Vista viewpoint. This vantage point affords fantastic views of the Shawangunks and Catskills to the north and Vernon Valley, Pochuck Mountain, and the Kittatinny Ridge to the west and south. After enjoying the view search for the cache nearby. It is not located near the cliffs. The original cache contents include a rainbow slinky, shark key chain, football key chain, deck of cards, GPS fuel, bag of marbles, catnip mouse, orange safety vest, and duct tape.
