Geocache Description:

This cache is one in a series along the river Emån, the only river in Sweden with a natural existence of the European catfish which can reach a weight of 300 kg. The fish is protected by law.

The European catfish (Silurus glanis) which is the biggest freshwater fish in the world can reach a length of 4 m and a weight of 320 kg. The fish needs warm summers with high water temperature to spawn and the fish is only located in some few lakes and rivers in Sweden, where Emån is one. The species is under acute threat of extermination and is therefore protected in most of the countries which accommodate a wild population.

The cache is a 1,0 l plastic box with grey lid, containing a logbook, a pencil and some trading items.
