Geocache Description:

A visit to one of Gästriklands many historic ironmaking sites.

Although this geo-cache is a traditional cache in its own right, it is also part of the In Search of Steel multi-cache. You may wish to refer to that cache before doing this one.

In the log book you will find a word, make a note of it. You will need this word to enable you to find the In Search of Steel cache. You will also need the words that can be found in these other caches:

In search of Steel - I Jädraås - Tallås - GCJ80C
In search of Steel - III Gammelstilla - GCJ80F
In search of Steel - IV Oslättsfors - GCJ80G

It is possible here to see how iron was made in prehistoric times. The Hälltjärn project started a few years ago to show how iron was made starting from the iron rich red earth found in the area. Ironmaking in the Viking way on the second Saturday & Sunday in June and September.

Blästerdagar i Hälltjärn.

Now about the cache itself. It is a plastic box (12 x 18 x 7 cm) wrapped in a black plastic bag containing the usual stuff..

Good luck!
