A lovely walk along the banks of the River Usk near Crickhowell.
This cache is hidden on the bank of the River Usk in Powys.I suggest parking near Walnut Tree Stores in Llangynidr. The coordinates are N51 52.438, W3 14.012.The footpath starts near the 17th century Llangynidr bridge just around the corner. The path is quite over-grown, especially in the summer but it does exist. It is probably best to avoid wearing shorts and it is deinitely not suitable for push-chairs.You need to be reasonably sure-footed to attempt this walk. The path closely follows the river and there is plenty of wildlife to see along the way. The river can be used for white-water canoeing or coarse fishing although it is a quiet section of the river. The cache is situated about 1 mile along the path and initially contained a clock, balloons, Miss Missey, a bell, a shell, a finger ornament, a notepad and pencil, and a Harry Potter Travel Bug.The white container has a capacity of about 1 pint.If you wish to return by a different route, continue about 400yds along the path until you meet a wooden handrail leading up a small trail. At the narrow lane, turn right and walk on the road until you meet the canal bridge. Turn right and walk along the tow-path of the Brecon - Abergavenny canal until you reach another bridge with a "Shop" sign on it. Walk down the hill to your car. I can thoroughly recommend this circular route which is probably just under 3 miles long. There are 2 public houses in the village of LLangynidr in case you are thirsty after your exercise !
NB The cache went missing in November 2004 and has been replaced in the new position shown. The hint has been changed.
