Suomen sodan tykit (valm. 1769-1770), Tornio
Keväällä 1970 löydettiin Röyttästä sahan tukkiallasta
ruopattaessa liejusta neljä hyvin säilynyttä rautaista tykkiä,
jotka on valettu vuosina 1769-1770. Ruotsalaisvalmisteisten tykkien
alkuperästä ei ole varmaa tietoa, mutta on arveltu, että ne on
Suomen sodan aikana kuljetettu suojaamaan Tornionjokisuun
liikennettä ja upotettu perääntymisvaiheen aikana mereen.
Konservoidut tykit asetettiin näytteille Tornionlaakson
maakuntamuseon eteen kesällä 1970.
Kätkö sijaitsee Tornion Länsirannalla, Tornionlaakson museon
edustalla. Se on löydettävissä myös talvella. Kätköä huoltaa
tarvittaessa polarit.
The Artillery of the Finnish War (constructed 1769-1770),
Tornio
The coordinates lead you to see two very well preserved cannons
from the 18th century. They were used for defending the
transit on the Tornionjoki river during the war time. What most
probably happened, was that when the swedish army forced retreated
to the western bank of the river they immersed the artillery so
that they wouldn't be used by the russians. The cannons were found
during the 1970's while dredging the river bottom. They were
restored and placed in here.
This is a winter proof holiday cache which is maintained by
polarit when neccessary.
