At the starting location you should find a U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey Benchmark (Don’t forget to log the Benchmark separately). Stamped in the center of the disk are 8 letters & numbers in two lines of four characters each. Multiply 0.062 by the number of the second character of the first line and insert in the Northing below. Insert the first two characters of the second row into the Westing below.

(all missing numbers will total 25 when added together)

N39°32.XXX’
W119°49.XX3’

Next, find D.D., multiply the last two characters on the stone by 2, and insert them to the Northing below. Convert the first word of the last line on the stone to its numeric equivalent and insert in both places of the Westing.

(all missing numbers will total 22 when added together)

N39°31.XX6’
W119°50.X0X’

The third leg must be completed between the hours of 8:00AM and 4:45PM Monday thru Saturday and 9:30AM to 4:45PM Sunday’s and Holiday’s

As a bonus to this leg, there are two benchmarks nearby, the first is approximately 45 feet southwesterly, and the second is 275 feet northeasterly. Both are on walls near steps to buildings. Take the difference in the first two numbers mentioned here and insert in both places of the Northing, take the day dedicated and multiply by 70, insert in the Westing below.

(all missing numbers will total 15 when added together)

N39°31.X2X’
