Geocache Description:

I marked this cache a 5 star for terrain because it requires a kayak, canoe or boat to access.

Let me share with you one of my many great and secret locations in the beautiful Northern Maine Woods. See this beautiful landscape the same way Native American's saw it hundreds of years ago. Please remember to leave no trace. The cache is about 1 mile from where you put in. You can access this area from a private boat landing at Norcross on North Twin Lake.

To find this, head South on Rt. 11 outside Millinocket. Cross over the green tressel bridge. Norcross boat landing can be accessed via fire road #9. Take this road to the end and cross the railroad tracks. Please be respectful to the camp owners, because the landing is a private boat launch owned by the camp owners association.

Park vehicle at 45' 37.705N 68'48.298W. Paddle North into Elbow Lake. Enjoy views of Katahdin and Jo-Mary Mountains. Moose and bears are frequently spotted in the bogs on the back side of the lake. Enjoy your visit.

Enjoy your paddle through this labyrinth of islands. The cache is on an island, but which one? Minimal bushwacking is required so dress accordingly. The cache is an eye-shot from the water. This cache is a large ammo can and is well hidden. Items we started with in this cache are great ones... Mostly, items needed to survive in the Maine Woods.
