North Coordinates
Go to the given coordinates.(You may have to elbow your way past some fishermen) Find a large triangle-shaped rock. Look only at the shore-side of the rock. Count the number of parallel drill marks on the rock. This number is “Z” The North Coordinates for the cache are 41’ 15.0XX Multiply “Z” times 4, then add 2. This equals “XX”
West Coordinates
Go to N 41’ 41’14.936 W 072’ 32.648 There is a prominent benchmark at this location. It is the highest point at Hammonasset. (For the uninitiated, you can log benchmarks as well! Take a waypoint if you like at the marker and log it online. Go to the “Ready for the Jetty?” page and then click on “...all nearby benchmarks” Match up your coordinates for a reverse search and log it - usually you take the coordinates and then hunt down the benchmark)
The West coordinates are 072’ 32.XXX Take the first three digits of the date on the benchmark and add 263. This equals “XXX”
