Camelback Mtn - Echo Canyon 1/4 way up
How Geocaching Works

About 1/4 of the way (10 minutes) up the Camelback Mtn Echo Canyon Trail. Well before the handrails or any steep stuff. Exit trail at the milepost "8" and go down and veer slightly right. I hung a couple TB dog tags on a nearby Palo Verde tree as a trail marker (they're voided, please don't take them).
Cache: Cache is a metal Ammocan container. Contains a logbook and pen.Location: Cache is about 1/4 of the way up the summit (10 minutes), well before you get to the handrails or any really steep climbing. Exit trail at the milepost "8" and go down and veer slightly right. I hung a couple TB dog tags on a nearby Palo Verde tree as a trail marker (they're voided, please don't take them). It is about 40 feet off the trail. There is a handrail at the curve, you'll get off the trail right before the rails.
Update Nov 2015: When they put the new handrails in they must have done some excavating, so the path to the cache is not as clear as it was when we first planted the cache. Not too difficult, just be careful with the loose rock and foliage in the way now.
There's a nice flat boulder-top mesa to hang out or picnic. Getting There: Take Camelback Road to 44th St., and turn north. 44th St. will make a 90 degree curve to the east after about 1 mile. After the stop light (Tatum), make your first turn (south) onto Echo Canyon Pkwy, which is the trailhead and parking ramada.
