Geocache Description:

This is a 13-step (12 clues + end cache) multi-cache to figure out who killed whom, where, and with what. Everything you need to know will be among one of the containers, including how to determine the coordinates to the final cache.

THORN WARNING! There are some thorns at step 2, step 10, and 13 (the end cache).

The final cache itself is LARGE and contains all HALLOWEEN-related items. Please keep with the theme and trade only one item. The swag is a lot nicer than usual.

NOTE: The park is dog-friendly but closes at sunset. Do not attempt ANY step of this cache after dark, including the end cache (which is not in the park, but still...)

Feel free to email me with who you think killed whom, etc. so that you don't go on a wild goose chase. If you come up with coordinates that take you more than two miles from the starting coordinates, your answers are incorrect. The final cache is in McKean, but it isn't in the park. You WILL want to drive to it after you complete your search for the twelve clues.

Now for the most important part of this....

It was a crisp, dreary, October day when some geocachers set out from the "Devil's Panties" geo-event to do a challenging poker run reserved for some experienced cachers... plus Kiawa. Those who participated were: Colonel Goldsnoop, Professor TPrints, Doctor JoelD, King Facedances, Ms. Kardiac, Lady Kiawa, and Madam AlphaWolf. They gathered in the park's pavilion and talked with other cachers before the event began.

MsKardiac presented a box to Kiawa, giggling maniacally. Kiawa opened it with her one good hand; she had broken her left arm in a recent geocaching mishap (surprise!). Everyone roared with laughter when she showed the contents: the very mirror shards of the first-place prize from Ms. Kardiac's "Spring Fling" 2004. Ms. Kardiac hoped that they would serve as a humorous reminder of when Kiawa broke it, which apparently they did. TPrints showed up a little late because he got tied up at his store, but luckily he was there in time to document all this with his camera!

Meanwhile, the Colonel busy showing off new micro cache container he created using pipes. King Facedances was putting some nice pocket knives in the Chinese Auction, and Kiawa was interested to know where he had gotten so many of them! Ms. Kardiac was also adding items to the auction, her homemade candles of course! While they were doing that, the good doctor was busy peddling his wares, excited that he talked the professor into purchasing his last lanyard.

Kiawa noticed that AlphaWolf wasn't as boisterous as usual, so she went to investigate. Madam was sad that she wasn't able to bring her canine companions to the shindig and instead brought an aluminum hiking pole for company. Lady Kiawa tried to cheer her up by showing off the new travel bug she had made: it was sharpened on one end to be almost like a knife, and Kiawa called it "The Cutting Edge". Madam AlphaWolf wasn't very impressed by this violent symbol, but Dr. JoelD liked it so much that he asked to be the first one to take it somewhere. Kiawa agreed and handed it over. Then the poker run began.

This cache was inspired by my fellow NWPA geocachers. When I first started writing this during the summer, it had about 25 characters. It was so complicated that even *I* couldn't figure out who did what! Therefore, I trimmed it way down to what you see here.

However, even if your name isn't listed here, I am very grateful to everyone in our geocaching community. I have never met a finer bunch of folks than you. Thanks!

By the way, your first three clues are:

  • The recipient of the shards left them in the Pavillion.

  • Any male member of royalty was alone at the time of the murder.

  • If the killer had a weapon, he or she would use it.
