Watchmoor Wood is part of Ringwood Forest Plantations.
Is close to the A31 and could make a convienient place to break a long car journey .
This cache is placed under the agreement between the Forestry Commission in the New Forest & Dorset (visit link)
HENCE THIS CACHE SHOULD BE SOUGHT DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS ONLY .
Cache is a 1 Ltr plastic sandwich container.
Watchmoor Wood is shown on Explorer Series Ordinance survey map & is part of a Forestry Commission plantation managed by Forestry Enterprise.It shows various stages of pine growth .
The area is very popular with dog walkers. The very energetic could continue walking to Moors Valley Country Park.
Check for deer ticks after visiting the New Forest and be aware that adders can sometimes be seen in and around the New Forest area .
The plantation is periodically subject to “Forest
Operations” (tree felling) & parts may temporarily be closed for safety reasons.
The co-ordinates are for stage 1 at the suggested parking in the Forestry Commission parking area, alongside the B3081 west of Ringwood.
The gravel track from car park is the easiest and quickest route to follw to the next stages
All virtual stages are beside gravel track .The last 60 yds to cache is off the gravel track and is not buggy friendly due to fallen twigs and rough grass .
The features and locations of Stages 2 and 3 were changed on 2/04/05 due to the erection of new fences around them .Cache location remains the same
