This cache is dedicated to a great Husband, Father, Brick layer, and fellow Geocacher. To find out who he was, find his cache!
Start at the above coords. They are to a monument in a cemetary. Dick's monument. You will use information from this monument to guide you along a path into the world that was Dick's life. You will visit places Dick visited, you'll see things the way Dick saw them, and in the end, hopefully, you'll get a great appreciation for the man.
You can visit the waypoints in any order. What matters is that you collect the correct information from each of the waypoints. You'll use this info to advance towards Dick's cache.
Waypoint #1: N44 49.18B
W91 28.B09
To solve for B, use Dick or Carol's birth year. Subtract the third digit from the second. The result is "B".
Waypoint #2 N44 49.118
W91 28.M6M
"M" is the third digit in the year they were married.
Waypoint #3 N44 48.C20
W91 29.C55
"C" is the number of letters in the name of their second child.
Waypoint #4 N44 48.TH9
W91 31.166
To solve for "TH", find the month that Dick and Carol were married. It is a two digit number with "T" being the first digit and "H" being the second.
Each of the four waypoints gives you a clue for the next waypoint along the path.
At waypoint #1, go to the south door. The coords should have led you here. Above this door, you'll see a row of ROWLOCK bricks. These are bricks that are set on edge with the end facing out. There are 22 of them. Count the number of ROWLOCK bricks on each side of the door frame, add the two numbers together, and you have "R".
At waypoint #2, you'll be at Dick's employer. The coords will lead you to the north side of the building. Count the number of windows on the "flat" wall. Go to the west side of the building and add to your count the number of windows on this flat wall. You now have "W".
At waypoint #3, there is a date on one of the most spectacular brick buildings in Eau Claire. To find this date, you have to look it "UP". Way up! The fourth digit is "D".
At waypoint #4, you'll be at a place that would aide Dick and Carol in one of their favorite hobbies. At this point, look for a sign in the window advertising the rental of watercraft. Count the number of "Q"'s in the sign.
The next stop will be at: N44 48.4QW
W91 32.7DR
Here you'll find a sign. On this sign is a date. Use this date to find the next waypoint.
It's at: N44 48.4S8
W91 32.S8S
"S" is the third digit of the date on the sign.
At this waypoint, you'll find the next memorial to Dick. If ya missed it, go back the way ya came, find the flat and count to the 30th. If ya found it, count the number of letters (LT's)s in Dick and Carol's "Saint's" names. Use that number to find Dick's cache.
FINAL:
N44 48.4??
13
+LT's
W91.32.585
To solve for the North, add the number of letters (LT's) to 13.
