How Geocaching Works
Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer
Take a ride over Newport's Transporter Bridge-one of only 2 in the U.K.
this has been changed to a MICRO CACHE,due to the original going missing. It is now a film cannister with a roll of paper in for you to log your find on, so don't forget to bring a pen with you!!
The co ordinates are not for the cache, they are for the car park. Park your car at the Transporter Bridge visitors centre on the A48 on the WESTERN side of the river. If the centre is open, it is well worth a look round, as it is very interesting. If not, theres quite a few plaques on the wall, depicting the history of the bridge.
Times for the bridge are as follows:-
If you are starting from this side, make sure that you give yourself enough time to get across to find the cache & get back, as its a long way to walk all the way round back to your car!!
Fares for the ride across are as folows:-
Pedestrians,Pushbikes & motorbikes-FREE.
If, however, you decide to park on the EASTERN side of the river,if the bridge is closed, park on the road, & you will find the cache at
N 51 34.214
W 002 58.999
This is a nice easy cache,as the interesting thing here is the bridge, not the container! :)
**DON'T FORGET, THIS IS A MICROCACHE, WITH JUST A ROLL OF PAPER IN IT, YOU'LL NEED TO BRING A PEN WITH YOU!**
