Celebrating my Cachiversary - just a little bit.
For those that don't want the history and just want to find the
cache, it's an unused pill bottle, placed along the Illinois
Prairie Path. Please return it to the best possible hiding
position.
Now for the history:
A confluence of circumstances lead
me to place this cache here.
Location
I play a couple other games with my GPS. One is Geodashing. Back
in June of 2003, Geodashing brought me near an unused forest
preserve in Will County, so I placed GD24-BYYC: Shall We Play A Game?. An off-shoot
of Geodashing is GeoGolf. The game follows the same premise as
Geodashing (getting close to a pseudo-random set of coordinates
and reporting what's there), except that the closer you get to
these points, the lower your score (low scores are good). The
golf-points are generated by Scout of GPSGames.org to the
individual user's specifications. The player specifies a center
point and a radius, and the computer spits out 18 points for you
to try at your own pace.
Back in my third course generated (which I worked on and completed
in January of 2004), the eighth hole (GGAAGD-08) popped up at
41.8156, -88.2007. It was so cool, that I vowed I would place a
cache there. This cache is 43 feet from that location.
It's also about a quarter mile from Tunnel Trouble, another micro that makes a good
companion to this cache.
Cachiversary 3.99? An
Opportunity
I like to take each anniversary of my start in caching (March 13,
2001) and plant a cache. I have an application at Will County
Forest Preserve for a new one, but it's still pending. That one
will be Cachiversary IV. Since this is just shy of that one (and it
was placed on my Cachiversary), it's 3.99.
Container
I had picked up this pill bottle micro from Spyderuser's
Oh No! - Not another Seed Cache! The container
had been rolling around my dashboard for (eek) 14 months. It was
time to get rid of it, and this seemed like the right place.
The container may be average, the contents - well it's just a
logbook and a pencil, but the hike is good and straight and level.
Here's hoping you have fun!
