This cache is an ammo can placed on one square mile of state land north of Down’s lake which is south of Cheney. Walking on the trail is easy, it gets hard when you get off the trail and start for the cache. There are two ways to get to this cache, each involves a few miles of walking. From the south it is about 1.7 miles to the cache, and from the north about 2.6 miles. Walking in from the north off of Pine Springs Rd. is easier, but longer.

The best way is to come in from the south and park at N47 17.771 W117 47.883. To get there, take I-90 south to the Fishtrap exit and take the Old State Highway south, and turn left onto Martin Road. Follow Martin Road east 6.6 miles to Falk Road where you will turn left. Follow Falk road north about .6 miles and find a place to park. The trail north is an old train track with the tracks removed which makes for very easy walking. You need to walk up the trail at least 1.25 miles to get onto the state land. Then you can veer to the right and start heading for the cache. I like to veer right off the track at N47 18.506 W117 46.713 and then go down into the canyon at N47 18.470 W117 46.515, but beware, it’s very steep. There is lots of brush in the bottom, but if you follow the game trails you can make your way through and up to the other side towards the cache. In the spring there is lots of water in the bottom and you may have to search for a crossing before you can continue your search! Once you are past the brush or spring water, it’s pretty easy going to the cache.

The waypoint for the cache was taken with a Garmin GPS Map76s with 16 ft. of accuracy on an overcast day. The original contents of this hunting/outdoor themed cache includes a rain poncho, mosquito net, sting ease, small compass, pocket knife, swiss army knife, bandaides, LED keychain, tape measure, ribbon, fishing jig.
