Geocache Description:

Skjoldungestien:

The Skjoldunge Path
A walking tour along Lejre creek, Kornerup creek and Lavringe creek.
The Skjoldunge Path leads you through a landscape with many kinds of Danish culture.
The path is about 18 km long, and it is marked as a walking-path.
The creeks, there meadows and the closeness to the inlet in the North direction is the basis for the life which have been here for thousand of years.
As you go along the path, you will see the marks of the Stone Age, Iron Age, Middle Age and our time. You will also see grazing animales, the soundless butterflyes, hear the running water, or in winther time a roar creek in a magnificent landscape.

Meadows and Orchid.
In Zealand is the meadows along the creeks generally drained and cultivated, but here is the meadows preserved.
In the early part of the summer you will see the violet light of a lot of Orchids.

Skjoldungernes Lejre
Lejre was a importen domain in Stone Age, Viking Age and in the beginning middle Age. The legends about King Skjold and his royal family Skjoldungerne, whith Rolf Krake, Roar and Helge,
is teied to Lejre. They ruled according to the legend in this region.
Therefor the path is named The Skjoldunge Path.
