How Geocaching Works

A short, two-stage cache located in Pennington, NJ, a beautiful small town with a lot of history.
The coordinates shown take you to the first stage. It is a plaque located in Pennington that marks an historic spot and provides the information needed to calculate the coordinates for the second stage. The cache itself is a small brown bottle with only a small log stuffed inside. Be sure to bring a pen or pencil to make your log entry.
To calculate the coordinates for the second stage:
1. Add up the individual digits for the year the plaque was placed and add 5. The resulting number should be subtracted from the final 3 digits of the North Latitude coordinate to obtain the new coordinate for stage 2.
2. Add up the individual digits for the historic year shown on the plaque and add the number equal to the number of players on a baseball team. The resulting number should be subtracted from the final 3 digits of the West Longitude coordinate to obtain the new coordinate for stage 2.
