Cache is located North West of the Boars Nest Trail
A circuit hike or an in and out hike are possible. It is easiest to take Forest Road 70, off of Forest Road 19 to pick up the upper trailhead of Boars Nest Trail. You can park at the locked gate (this gate is open mid October to April). It is about 3 miles from the gate to the trailhead on Forest Road 70, then about a mile to the overlook - a large rocky scree area - where you will hunt for the cache and enjoy the view and perhaps scramble or meander around to more windshaped rocks to the west - where you can look across to Bushwhacker View (and another Cache). You can then continue downhill on swithcbacks and then an old skid road back to Forest Road 19 and then hike up the road to Forest Road 70 where you parked your car - or carpool to avoid the hike on the road. A complete round trip hike is 9.5 miles, including the road. NOTE:You need to cross the South Prong of Red Creek on Boars Nest Trail twice - once at the upper trailhead and then again at the bottom near the Forest Road 19 trailhead. If there has been a lot of rain the waters may be too high to cross.
