This is a "secret spot" that is very nice, but not often visited
.... UNTIL NOW! The Hefner Reservoir in Bradford, AKA Res
#5 (as per the topo), AKA "The West Corydon Reservoir" ,
is a very nice, serene place to visit.
Unfortunately there is little you can do there. No Camping,
Swimming, Fishing, etc ... But you can hike and sunbathe! This
cache is very near a large flat rock near the waters edge that is
perfect for sitting or laying in the sun. What a great place for a
quite lunch.
You can park in the small parking lot at the end of West Corydon
Road (it's marked as a "dead end"). The road ends at the Water
Plant, and you MUST park outside the gates. The gates are
often open, but don't park inside or you will get locked in!
The Bradford Water Authority owns the property and welcomes the
public (and Geocachers!) ... as long as you don't break the
rules!
After parking in the lot outside the water plant gates, you will
hike in a northerly direction toward the Tuna Creek. You will cross
the main creek (and maybe some smaller creeks along the way) and
find an old abandon road grade. Head in a south-westerly direction
toward the cache. Sometimes there is a trail, sometimes there is
not.
The cache is fairly small with smaller trades, Guitar Picks,
Italian Charms, (New) Earrings, etc. And there is a log book to
sign ....
And plan on spending some time in the sun at a very serene
spot!
Bring suntan lotion and bug spray!
PS- This is just down hill from my "Dead Mans Cave" cache!
Suggestion: Do the "Dead Mans Cave" Cache first, and then relax
down by the water.
