Geocache Description:

From most places in Halden one can see the white tower on top of the fortress. This was a bell tower for sounding warnings in historic times of war. The cache is located close by, below the highest point of the whole fortress, near the pictured cannons. The placing is a little precarious, so control children and pets.

The bell tower was used to sound an alarm when the enemy (i.e., the Swedish) was seen from the high point of the fortress. Close by are some cannons pointed down the lines of the street plan of Halden. The cache is near here, some meters vertically below the highest viewing point. There are outstanding panoramic views of Halden, the harbour, the fjord (Iddefjorden) and inland (as well as some historical exhibits and buildings, of course.)

The cache is less than 600 m to the Gyldenløve fort microcache GCPMYH, 280 m from Christian V's Microfortress GCQ687, 330 m from Roland Bastion GC1VGHF, all related to the fortress.

The cache is almost vertically about 12 m under the popular, railed highest viewpoint. There is some slight need to climb to reach it. It is best accessed from below. Not recommended for pets, children or people with poor balance. Be careful, especially if the grass is wet. No spoiler pictures, please.
