Geocache Description:

bas relief of Farr at Persepolis

Ancient Persians recognized the figure of Farr or Farohar.

The cirle in the center is said to represent the soul. The two The two wings give the soul flight. The five rows of feathers in the wings represent the five divine songs of the prophet Zarathustra, the five senses and the five divisions of the day. The feathered tail provides the soul a balance to withstand the forces of evil and pursue the good. Its three rows of feathers are said to be reminders of the path of humata -- “good thoughts,” hukhta – “good words,” and Hvarasta – “good deeds.” The head represents the ability to choose that Ahura-Mazda – “Wise Lord”-- gives each person.
