De Gaulle à Antoing
Charles de Gaulle a bien connu la Belgique et plus particulièrement la Wallonie.
C'est au château d'Antoing, que le jeune de Gaulle, âgé de dix-sept ans, titulaire du baccalauréat, fut présenté, le 26 juillet 1907, à l'École supérieure préparatoire du Sacré-Cœur, tenue par les Jésuites français en exil, afin d'avoir de meilleures bases en mathématiques et de préparer l'entrée à l'École centrale.
Il y arriva le 3 octobre 1907, avec son frère Jacques, et il y resta jusqu'à la fin de juillet 1908.
C'est là qu'il rédigea sa première étude, consacrée à "la Congrégation de la Très Sainte Vierge" et qu'il prononça, au cours de la retraite de fin d'année, les célèbres paroles, gravées à l'entrée du château d'Antoing : "Quant à l'avenir, il sera grand car il sera pétri de nos œuvres".

Parking pour votre véhicule en N 50 33 960 et E 03 26 588.
Prendre la direction de la cache en se dirigeant vers le château d'Antoing en passant d'abord prés du portail ouest puis suivre le double mur d'enceinte (à droite du portail) qui vous conduira sur la place d'Antoing.
Dirigez-vous vers le square "De Gaulle" prés du château et cherchez le monument commémoratif.

De Gaulle stayed during two years in Antoing, this little historical fact is a splendid occasion to create this cache.
Charles de Gaulle knew Belgium very well, especially the Walloon region. It's in the Walloon region, in the castle of Antoing, that young de Gaulle, seventeen with a bachelor's degree, was introduced on 26 July 1907, at the "École supérieure préparatoire du Sacré-Coeur", a school of French Jesuits in exile, to achieve a better base in mathematics and to prepare for his start at the "École centrale".
He arrived there on 3 October 1907, together with his brother Jacques, and stayed there until the end of July 1908.

Parking for your car at N 50 33 960 - E 03 26 588. Take the direction of the cache by going to the castle of Antoing.
First pass the west gate and follow the double wall of the fence (on the right side of the gate) who will lead you to the center of Antoing.
Go to the "De Gaulle" square next to the castle and search for the commemoration monument.

De Gaulle verbleef gedurende twee jaar te Antoing, dit klein historisch feit is een gelegenheid om deze cache op te richten.
Charles de Gaulle heeft België goed gekend, vooral Wallonië. Parking voor je voertuig op N 50 33 960 - E 03 26 588. Richting van de cache nemen door naar het kasteel van Antoing te gaan. Kom eerst voorbij de westelijke poort en volg de dubbele muur van de omheining (rechts van de poort) die je naar het centrum van Antoing zal leiden.
Ga naar het « De Gaulle » plein naast het kasteel en zoek het herdenkingsmonument.
