This is the first in a
series of 4 wheel driving caches.
This cache is located about half way
along the Araluen Valley between Moruya and Araluen (via
Braidwood). I’ve wondered for years why this place was called
Dry Creek when it is actually the very wet Deua River and it
wasn’t until I went to place this cache that I discovered the
real Dry Creek a little further downstream.
This is a beautiful spot to stop for lunch or even bring a tent and
stay longer, there are camping facilities with a primitive
amenities block (although I think camping fees apply) and most 2
wheel drive vehicles should get in and out of the camping area off
Araluen Road without too much trouble however you will need
a 4WD to cross the river. Please take due care if crossing
the river as it can be deceptively deep in places – don’t say I
didn’t warn you!
You can drive/ride to within metres of the cache by following
trails that zig-zag backward and forward across the river or if
you’re feeling adventurous… swim to the cache! Once there, you
should find it quite easily? The cache is a regular cache and is
suitable for most average-sized swaps.
P.S. This cache contains a clue to finding a
hidden cache!
