Geocache Description:

Langå egeskov is one of the few remains of a 19th-century dominating forest type. The forest is formed by grazing cattle, eating the young trees, thereby creating a forest containing only fully grown trees. This forest type is often seen in Danish golden age paintings from the 1800's. In 1802 a forest conversation law was passed, prohibiting the practice of grazing cattle in forests. One of the few places where this law was ignored and unenforced, was in Langå. Therefore, this forest has retained its original character. Later, a danish nature conversation organization, Danmarks naturfond, bought the forest, and obtained an exemption from the law, so the forest could be maintained in its old form.

Cachen

The cache is deliberatly placed at a challenging location. Both access to the cache and receiving conditions in the surroundings vary from difficult to impossible, depending on time of year. The rationale behind this placement is a discussion of the differences between different GPS receivers under difficult conditions. Therefore I ask you to mail me the postition your GPSr shows for the find.

The published coordinate is a parking area. Near the parking area is an information sign (unfortunately only in danish) about the forest. The second paragraph starts with "Gamle kort fra ABCD-taller ..." The cache is placed at N 56° 23.DC(A+1) E 009° 53.(B+2)(D+3)B. Do not go directly to the cache from here, but instead to N 56° 23.133 E 009° 54.092 and from there to the gate in the fence at N 56° 22.986 E 009° 53.946. At this location is a copy of the information sign, if the first one is missing. There is yet another information sign at N 56° 23.084 E 009° 54.401
