No one is quite sure why a guitar is referred to as an ax … just one of life’s mysteries!
The above coordinates are to a local music store in Fairfield and not the final. You could go in and ask why a guitar is referred to as an ax. That will not help you find the cache, however.
All I can say is …… The answer lies within The Ax!
The cache is located in Mill Hill Open Space, Fairfield, Connecticut. Parking is a pull off on Mill Hill Road at the following coordinates: 41 09.131N, 73 17.062W (To prevent walking through long grass during the summer months, you can access the preserve at the end of Acorn Lane. Step over the rail and down a small hill. Yes, it is an official trail head!). In addition to the Ax Event Travel Bug (I will mail you the coordinates once discover), there are a couple TB's circulating which may give you the answer ... well, help you find the cache at least! You can e-mail me to verify the coordinates.
7/3/11 - HOW THINGS CHANGE OVER THE YEARS! THE COORDINATES WERE ORIGINALLY HIDDEN IN A GUITAR TRAVEL BUG. THAT WORKED FOR A LITTLE WHILE, BUT I FINALLY HAD TO PUT THAT ONE TO REST. I THEN ISSUED TWO TB'S WITH CLUES TO HELP YOU LOCATE THE CACHE. ONE TB IS STILL AROUND BUT THE OTHER ONE IS NOW OUT OF STATE (INSTRUCTIONS WERE TO KEEP THE TB IN CONNECTICUT). I ALSO WAS TOLD THAT THE MUSIC STORE IN FAIRFIELD IS NOW GONE. THE STORE, HOWEVER, HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE CACHE.
SO TO KEEP THIS CACHE A PUZZLE AND TO HELP YOU FIND THE CONTAINER, SUBTRACT THE NUMBER OF STRINGS ON A SIX STRING GUITAR FROM THE LAST THREE DIGITS OF THE NORTH COORDINATE SHOWN BELOW (THE WEST COORDINATE IS GOOD TO GO AS IS):
GOT IT? YOU SHOULD HAVE SOLVED THIS ONE IN TRIPLE ZERO TIME!!!
