Castillo de Chinchilla de Montearagon
El cache se encuentra en los alrededores del castillo de
Chinchilla de Montearagon en la provincia de Albacete.
El actual castillo data del siglo XV aunque hay constancia de
que anteriormente hubo una fortaleza musulmana. En épocas más
recientes fue usado como penal y así es el nombre con el que mucha
gente del lugar lo conoce.
Está situado a 935 metros de altura y es visible desde gran
distancia ya que se encuentra en el borde de la sierra de
Chinchilla, que por cierto no es un pueblo sino que tiene los
titulos de 'Muy noble, muy leal y fidelísima ciudad de Chinchilla
de Montearagon'.
A Chinchilla se puede acceder en coche por la autovía A-31. Si
te gusta la bici, puedes ir desde Albacete usando el camino auxilar
que discurre paralelo a la autovía, son unos 15km.
Una vez en Chinchilla recomendamos dejar el coche en la Plaza de
La Mancha (N 38º 55,243' W 1º 43,509' 903m) donde
podemos ver la fachada del ayuntamiento presidida por el busto de
Carlos III y flanqueada en la parte de abajo por dos cañones,
frente a esta fachada iniciamos el paseo andando por la empinada
cuesta de la calle Obra Pia en cuyo inicio esta la portada de la
iglesia de Santa Maria del Salvador. El camino nos llevará unos 20
minutos siempre en moderada ascensión.
Recorridos unos metros y tras pasar la Plaza de España, llegamos
al cruce que popularmente se le conoce como 'las cinco calles' un
poco más adelante y a la izquierda ya tenemos la indicación del
camino a seguir para llegar al castillo. Si se elige subir en
coche, se puede dejar en una explanada cercana al castillo
(N 38º 55,168' W 1º 43,726').
Las coordenadas del cache (N 38º 55,120' W 1º
43,750') nos llevan hasta el mirador que hay enfrente de
la puerta del castillo. En este momento deberemos acercarnos a la
puerta y contar cuantas tablas de madera forman en total las 2
puertas. Pongamos que este número es X.
Ahora hacemos este cálculo: (X*X) - 21 = YZ
Y para encontrar el cache deberemos ir a N 38º 55,17Y' W
1º 43,7YZ'

Castle of Chinchilla de Montearagon
The cache can be found around the castle of Chinchilla de
Montearagon in the province of Albacete.
The actual castle dates from XV century, although it is known
that a musulman fortress was in here before. Until recent times it
was used as a jail and it is call that way by people in town.
It is placed 935 metres high and can be seen from far away
because it is placed in the border of Chinchilla's mountain range,
by the way this is not a town because it has the 'Very noble, very
loyal and the fidelitiest city of Chinchilla de Montearagon'
titles.
Chinchilla can be reached by car by the A-31 motorway. If you
like biking, you can go from Albacete using the service path that
goes next to the motorway, it is about 15km long.
Once we are in Chinchilla, we can park your car in La Mancha
square (N 38º 55,243' W 1º 43,509' 903m) where we
can see the front of the town hall with the Carlos III bust and two
cannons downside, from this point we start our walk by the raising
Obra Pia street which start point is the front of the Santa Maria
del Salvador's church. It will take us 20 minutes to complete this
path, always with a moderate ascent.
Some meters far and crossing though the España Square, we arrive
to the crossroads which is known as 'the five streets' a bit ahead
and in the left side we have the sign which tells us the way to the
castle. If you wish to ascent by car, it can be parked in a
esplanade near the castle (N 38º 55,168' W 1º
43,726').
The cache location (N 38º 55,120' W 1º 43,750')
takes us to the viewpoint in front of the castle's gate. At this
point we must get closer to the gate and count how many wood planks
the whole gate is made of. Suppose this number is X.
Now we calculate: (X*X) - 21 = YZ
And to find out the cache we should go to N 38º 55,17Y'
W 1º 43,7YZ'
