The Leprechauns: This area is now a dog park, so replacing the cache would make for bad interactions with muggles and doggles. Also, since the cache was hidden it now has an urban magnet school as a neighbor across the street. Final nail in the coffin was a stabbing that occurred near the cache area - unsavory characters roam the area at times when geocachers are likely to visit. Time to put this old, old cache to rest in the archives.

Geocache Description:

As you triangulate satellites to find this cache, admire the view from a triangular parcel of public land. You'll see the triangles of the architecturally distinctive Convention Center building, as well as the other sights around the Golden Triangle.

It's awfully hard to hide a cache in downtown Pittsburgh. Much of the time, you cannot lock onto enough satellites to triangulate your position, because of all the skyscrapers. The triangle-shaped Point State Park is slim on hiding places, and a DCNR permit is required. Many of the open spaces are privately owned by the adjoining office building owners, and/or are so full of muggles that a cache hunt would not be enjoyable.

I stumbled upon a little triangle of land where a cache could be hidden on public property. You'll be within view of many muggles. Just pretend that you're enjoying the sights and you should be fine. It's designed to be an easy find in a standard spot. Everyone should own one of these caches, I suppose. At least this one requires a bit of work, and has nice scenery. In the springtime, you can enjoy the flowers along the well-maintained riverwalk. And at any time of year, you can admire the view looking from the Golden Triangle across the Allegheny River to Heinz Field, PNC Park and the Alcoa headquarters building.
