N.F.S. Grundtvigs hjemstavn

Ved Udby kirke i den gamle præstegård fødtes digteren og folkeopdrageren N.F.S. Grundtvig [1783-1872]. Grundtvig levede sine barneår her og vendte tilbage i 1811-13 som kapellan for sin aldrende fader Johan Grundtvig.

Udbys firelængede præstegård er en af de bedst bevarede danske præstegårde fra 1600 tallet. Mindestuerne er indrettet i den såkaldte Kapellanfløj, hvor den unge Grundtvig boede i 1811-13, her skrev han en række af sine ungdomsarbejder. I Mindestuerne er bevaret portrætter af Grundtvig, møbler, gamle bøger og noter.

Hvis du har tid og lyst, kan Grundtvigs Mindestuer besøges på nedenstående tidspunkter, mod en mindre entré.

  • Hver torsdag i hele sæsonen kl. 13 - 15.30

The home of N.F.S. Grundtvig

At Udby Church in the old vicarage the poet and folk educationalist N.F.S. Grundtvig was born [1783-1872]. He spent his childhood here, and he returned in 1811-13 as perpetual curate for his ageing father Johan Grundtvig.

The four winged vicarage is one of the best preserved Danish vicarages from the sixteenth century. The memorial rooms are furnished in the socalled curate wing where young Grundtvig lived from 1811-13. Here he wrote numbers of his early work. You will also find portraits of Grundtvig as well as furniture, old books and notes.

If you are interested and have a little spare time, you can visit The Memorial Rooms of Grundtvig at the following opening hours. A small admission fee apply.

From 1. May to 15. September:

  • Every Thursday in the season: 1 pm - 03.30 pm
  • In May and June - 1st Sunday in the month: 12 pm - 2.30 pm
  • In July - every Saturday and Sunday: 12 pm - 2.30 pm
  • In August - every Sunday: 12 pm - 2.30 pm
