Geocache Description:

We used to play golf here; had a lot of fun. Guess I'd rather be caching anyway! Soon, a frisbee golf course will open on the corner. PLEASE: No parking on Hwy 3 - too dangerous.

WARNING. DO NOT DISTURB THE REMAINS NEARBY. It is completely natural and has nothing to do with this cache. Please do not disturb a single bone from the nearly fully intact animal skeleton. Please DO NOT touch; even to be curious.

The old-timers say a train used to run right through the Brockway Golf Course in Rosemount, halting play for long periods on busy Saturday afternoons.

Years later, the raised rails of the tracks still came into play. If a duffer could nudge his tee shot far enough down the seventh fairway, he could pick up the ball and carry it to a drop zone about 30 yards closer to the green. The rule was adopted after too many golfers tried to hit off the hard ground that preceded the tracks. Golf balls would skid forward, clang off the rails and ricochet back at them. Speaking from experience, there barely was enough time to collapse into the fetal position.

Motorists traveling along Highway 3 these days will find no sign of the old course. A couple of years ago, it was sold to developers. Now there's nothing but houses there; and I live in one of them.
