Geocache Description:

"Drive in Cache" especially for motorcyclists (and others...)

St. Gotthard / San Gottardo is 2108m high. Maybe it's the most famous of all the Swiss passes. It connects Andermatt (Kt. Uri) with Airolo ( Kt. Ticino).
It's history goes back as far as to the Langobards in 569 a.Chr. They built a bridge hanging on iron chains into "Schöllenenschlucht" – the gorge just north of Andermatt. This bridge didn't get replaced until 1198, when a new and better bridge get built. It was called "Teufelsbrücke" – bridge of devil. It's still impressiv to have a look down to the gorge today and wonder about the men, having constructed those bridges and roads.
On the Ticino part there's still the famous "Tremola" (tremble...) – this is how the old cobbeld road is called. You don't know Gotthard as long as you don't have driven "Tremola". With this cache I'm going to help you to find the trembling entrance...
