Geocache Description:

This is a 9 leg multicache stretching over a distance of over 9 km. Does it sound a little bit too heavy for you? Don´t worry, you could either visit each waypoint by your own means of transport (boring!) or you could sit down in the cozy comfort of our favourite little railway line…

Lidingöbanan has once had both a northern and a southern track. The southern track, which is presently the only one in use, was opened for traffic on the 29 January 1914. Back then it carried passengers between Herserud and Skärsätra, but already in July 1914 the route was expanded to Brevik.
In 1916 there was further expansion to Gåshaga nedre and finally, in march 1925, a new bridge linking Lidingö with the mainland was ready and you could take a tram from the city centre all the way to Gåshaga.
There has been many other changes over the years, and since the mid 80:s Lidingöbanan has lived under a constant threat of being taken out of commission and replaced by buses. The future today, with many new apartment buildings at Gåshaga brygga, looks slightly better but still you could make a contribution to this charming railway, simply by taking a ride.

On your way to Gåshaga you are supposed to visit eight stations and look for square yellow signs that has a two digit number and a three letter station code. Use the supplied paint scheme and find those two digit numbers on it (there will be several of each). Take a pen of your choice and fill in the fields that surround the numbers and voilá, something will appear right before your eyes. No calculations, no estimations, just pure creative fun.
The signs are all placed at the end of each platform or shortly after it. They are all very visible. Therefore you don´t have to leave the train at each station, you will pass the sign at slow speed and can easily spot it from your seat. We will give you short instructions where to look and a recommendation is to sit on the right hand side in the trains direction. Are you ready? Then let´s go…

Ropsten. N 59 21.497, E 018 06.253. This is the starting point and before you board the train you are supposed to find three parallel mounted signs here. The coordinates indicate the middle one. Take down the numbers of all three.

Torsvik. N 59 21.669, E 018 07.082. Right side, about 30 m after the platform.

Baggeby. N 59 21.399, E 018 08.078. Right side. End of platform.

Bodal. No sign.

Larsberg. No sign.

Aga. N 59 20.786, E 018 09.345. Right side. End of platform

Skärsätra. N 59 20.598, E 018 10.263. Right side. End of platform.

Kottla. No sign.

Högberga. N 59 20.658, E 018 11.618. BEWARE! Left side. End of platform.

Brevik. N 59 20.906, E 018 12.248. Right side. End of platform.

Käppala. N 59 21.172, E 018 13.078. BEWARE! Left side. End of platform.

Talludden. No sign.

Gåshaga. No sign.

Gåshaga brygga. No sign. This is where you get off the train with a set of coordinates in your hand that will lead you to a place of peace and tranquility that maybe does not appear on your map…

We hope you have enjoyed the ride!
