Yockenthwaite is a farming hamlet in a beautiful setting with the largest farmhouse being Yockenthwaite House dating from the mid- to late 18th century. It is worth making a short detour of about 600 metres further west on the Dales Way footpath, to a small prehistoric stone circle. To find out more about ancient burialsites in the Dales visit the Themes/Religion area of our archaeology website www.outofoblivion.org.uk
This cache can be included with others to make a wonderful circular walk, with a short deviation to the 'Packhorse Way'. If you want to bag all seven of the caches we have hidden in the area the waypoint names are in order below. The trail is about 8 miles long starting at Buckden National Park car park (charge).
There is a regular bus service to Buckden.
