Geocache Description:

Located on Libby Island at the north end of the Municipality, John C. Foster Park honours the Oxford-on-Rideau Township reeve who served the community from 1988 to 1993. The historic township of Oxford-on-Rideau along with South Gower Township and the Town of Kemptville amalgamated in 1998 to form what is now the Municipality of North Grenville. Undeveloped, Libby Island is approximately 1.2 km long and 300 m at the widest point. The 23 acre park includes open, grassy areas and mixed groves of hardwoods and conifers. Libby Island is adjacent to a class three wetland. In the fall, the sounds of migrating geese fill the air as the birds stop over on the Rideau River. Manmade brushpiles on the island provide shelter for rabbits, quails, ruffed grouse and various songbirds.

The cache resides a few metres off the mown trail in the centre of the island. The cache container is a camouflaged and concealed 1 Kg coffee can.

John C. Foster Park is on the north side of River Road, just off of county road 44, north of Kemptville. TAKE NOTE: The park is at 2471 River Road. Look for the blue civic address signs. While a large municipal sign marks the entrance to the park, you might easily drive by it: the access road is between two houses and might be mistaken for a driveway. Take the gravel road across the causeway to the parking area in the grassy expanse. The trails are wide and dry. It is a short walk (250 m) to the cache from the parking area.

PLEASE: If you move something, return the cache site to its original state. And no spoilers, please, in your on-line log.
