Geocache Description:

This multi-cache is located in the Long Pond Preserve off Mead Street in Waccabuc, NY. Parking coordinates are N 41° 17.783 W 073° 35.920 by the fence or across the street. Please be advised that cars coming down the hill have limited visibility as they turn the corner. There are two small containers and then a medium-sized Tupperware. This set of trails wanders by an open field where the Waccabuc Hotel once stood and toward the edge of Waccabuc Lake. Take time to explore the maple tree forest on the south side of the lake as well, and you will also easily find the remnants of the hotel’s icehouse. I have found the late afternoon to be the most enjoyable time to visit this area as the setting sun casts a beautiful glow on the field, lake and Castle Rock across the way-hence the name. The trails are well marked and greatly loved by the locals. No worries of losing your way, but please respect the residents and stay off of the private dirt road (Tarry-A-Bit). I spent my childhood running around these woods and many of our old campsites from day camp are still used during the summer months. Please be careful of young muggles-hopefully they are playing kick-the-can or capture the flag as we used to.
Congrats to Bollechino for the FTF!
