Geocache Description:

Almost at the top of High Rock, where you'll have some awesome views of Mt. Rainier. They are *in your face*! No need to enter the collapsed shelter to find the cache.

Bring your own pen! The rock is also a pretty impressive sight in its own right. It juts out like the prow of a ship and is visible from a long ways out. On a clear day, you’ll also see Mt. Adams, Mt. St. Helens and far off in the haze, Mt. Hood. I’m thinking you should be able to see Mt. Baker also, but uh, I forgot to look in that direction. This is a moderate 3 mile round trip hike with 1400’ elevation gain. For the last 100’ or so, all dogs and small kids should be on a VERY short leash. The cliffs drop off a LONG ways. The trailhead is at Towhead Gap on Rd 8440. If you look straight down, you will see Cora Lake, 1750’ below you. That is the home of the Cora Lake cache. The Duke’s View cache is also down there somewhere. I would have posted some wonderful pictures, but there seems to have been some sort of operator error problem with my new camera. Bummer! Oh, by the way, the cache isn’t quite at the top. There wasn’t really a good and safe place to put one there. It’s by the old shake shelter just before you break out of the trees. And so you don’t tear up the fragile terrain : step to the lower side of the bulkhead and face it, then look under a small rock/bark next to the stump at the left end
