DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1937 (ERM) STATION IS LOCATED ON THE N WING WALL OF THE W ABUTMENT OF THE SEVEN MILE BRIDGE (PACET VIADUCT) OF THE OVERSEAS HIGHWAY. LOCATED IN THE CENTER OF THE TOP OF THE WING WALL 12 FEET FROM THE CENTER LINE OF THE HIGHWAY. STATION AND REFERENCE MARK ARE STANDARD BRONZE DISKS SET IN DRILL HOLES IN CONCRETE WING WALL. REFERENCE MARK IS LOCATED TO THE NORTHWARD AT THE POINT WHERE THE SLOPE BREAKS. STATION MARK IS FLUSH WITH THE SURFACE.

STATION IS LOCATED 8.4 MILES SW ALONG U.S. HIGHWAY 1 FROM THE POST OFFICE AT MARATHON, AT THE W END OF THE SEVEN MILE BRIDGE, 12.8 FEET N OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE HIGHWAY, 0.8 FOOT N OF BENCH MARK B 70 RESET, ABOUT 2.0 FEET BELOW ROAD LEVEL, IN THE TOP OF THE N WING WALL OF THE W ABUTMENT, AND SET IN A DRILL HOLE. REFERENCE MARK 1 IS A STANDARD REFERENCE-MARK DISK, STAMPED DUCK 2 NO 1 1937 AND RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION. THE STATION MARK IS SET ON THE TOP OF THE NORTH CONCRETE WING WALL OF THE SEVEN MILE BRIDGE AND 12.8 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE HIGHWAY. IT IS STAMPED DUCK 2 1937. REFERENCE MARK NO. 1 IS 70.4 FEET NORTH-NORTHWEST OF THE STATION, 74 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE HIGHWAY AND ABOUT 10 FEET BELOW THE LEVEL OF THE HIGHWAY. STATION IS A STANDARD DISK SET IN DRILL HOLE IN NORTHWEST WING WALL OF BRIDGE AND IS STAMPED DUCK 2 1937. 13 FEET NORTH OF CENTER OF U.S. HIGHWAY 1 AND 0.81 FOOT NORTHWEST OF BENCH MARK B 70 RESET TIDAL 2 1936. REFERENCE MARK IS A STANDARD DISK SET IN DRILL HOLE IN THE NORTHWEST WING WALL OF 7 MILE BRIDGE, ABOUT 10 FEET LOWER THAN THE STATION AND IS STAMPED DUCK 2 TIDAL 3 NO 1 1937. IT IS 84 FEET NORTH OF CENTER OF U.S. HIGHWAY 1 AND 71 FEET NORTH OF STATION MARK. NO OBSERVATIONS OR MEASUREMENTS WERE MADE AT THIS TIME. AIRLINE DISTANCE AND DIRECTION FROM NEAREST TOWN 9 MILES SOUTHWEST OF MARATHAN.

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in May 1991.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • This Tidal Bench Mark is designated as VM 6329 by the Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services.
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
