DESCRIBED BY FL DEPT OF NAT RES 1982 19.65 MI NE FROM KEY WEST. BEGIN AT THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IN KEY WEST, GO 19.65 MILES NORTHEAST ALONG U.S. HIGHWAY 1 TO THE EAST END OF THE NEW BOW CHANNEL BRIDGE AT CUDJOE KEY. THE MARK IS SET IN THE WINGWALL THAT SUPPORTS THE MAIN WATER LINE FOR THE KEYS. THE MARK BEARS 23.6 FEET SOUTH-SOUTHWEST OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE BRIDGE, 3.6 FEET SOUTH-SOUTHWEST OF THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF THE CONCRETE RAIL, 0.45 FEET NORTH-NORTHEAST OF THE SOUTH END OF THE WINGWALL, AND 10.9 FEET WEST-SOUTHWEST OF BENCH MARK 4332 G 1982. THE MARK IS 1.4 FT BELOW ROAD.

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • This Tidal Bench Mark is designated as VM 6957 by the Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
