Hard to miss! This mark is surrounded by fresh stakes, paint and flagging, as well as being about 12 feet west of a Carsonite witness post. There is a road and subdivision under construction behind the nursery, and presumably this mark has been used in surveying the new project.

DESCRIBED BY WASH SUBURB SAN COMM 1994 THE STATION IS LOCATED IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MARYLAND, APPROXIMATELY 0.5 MI (0.8 KM) NORTH OF THE VILLAGE OF BROOKEVILLE. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE INTERSECTION OF GEORGIA AVENUE (S.R. 97) AND OLNEY SANDY SPRING ROAD (S.R. 108), GO NORTH 2.0 MI (3.2 KM) ALONG GEORGIA AVENUE (S.R. 97) TO A SHARP LEFT BEND AND THE JUNCTION WITH MARKET STREET WITHIN THE VILLAGE OF BROOKEVILLE. BEAR LEFT AND GO EAST THEN NORTH 0.8 MI (1.3 KM) ALONG GEORGIA AVENUE TO THE STATION ON THE RIGHT, NEAR THE ENTRANCE TO THE MEADOWS FARMS NURSERIES. THE STATION IS A WSSC DISK SET IN TOP OF A CONCRETE MONUMENT WHICH IS FLUSH WITH GROUND LEVEL, AND STAMPED "T.S. 20529". THE DISK IS LOCATED 4.1 M (13.5 FT) WEST-SOUTHWEST OF THE FENCELINE, 15.8 M (51.8 FT) NORTHEAST OF POWER-POLE NO. 18, 7.8 M (25.6 FT) EAST-NORTHEAST OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE ROAD, AND 8.2 M (26.9 FT) NORTHWEST OF POWER POLE NO. 15.

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by GPS observations and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1995.
  • The orthometric height was determined by GPS observations and a high-resolution geoid model.
  • The X, Y, and Z were computed from the position and the ellipsoidal ht.
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The ellipsoidal height was determined by GPS observations and is referenced to NAD 83.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
