Wahoo, First ever benchmark logged. Pass these things all the time...notice them more on summits of mountain summits. Driven by this one countless times and never knew it existed. Here's to many more!

Tonight after getting back from doing some out of town caching, beebuddy and I decided to check out a few local benchmarks, this was the first one we stopped at...
There were muggles sitting in a car next to where we pulled in, and a muggle in his truck behind us, we didn't care, it's not like caching, they can't muggle these things, lol...
We got right out and walked up and checked it out, it was just getting dark so I took a couple pictures with flash and a couple without flash, here is one of the ones with flash...
This Benchmark was in pretty good shape I guess, it's only my second one and the other one was missing, so I don't have much to compare to yet, although I have seen many, I have never looked at them so close...

Mrs. R&H "shopped" (and bought me some Oreos) while I walked to this so we could park in a "Customers Only" lot nearby.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in January 1997.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
