This was a quick find today after visiting the nearby Fullerton Arboretum.

The kids go to school right here - so we HAD to look for it! We found it as described.

Coordinates place you in a school yard. Found benchmark as described.

I tried to find this one a couple of months ago but failed. It was my first attempt at Benchmarking and I was using the GPS instead of the directions. That didn't work for me. I'm just using the directions now although I may use the GPS to get me to the area once I start going farther afield.
One small correction to the directions is that it is Maertin Lane not Maertin Place. Other than that it is as described.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in February 1997.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
