Klemmer was kind enough to chauffeur Wintertime and me around Anaheim to pick up some benchmarks. A nice change from my central Florida haunts.

Found as decribed. Second of our eight "Power Benchmarking" finds in about 2 hours with Patty & Nick. Well, only 7 for me, since I had found one of them previously. Fun day!

I'm happy to report that this one is still here and in good shape except for a couple of lawnmower cuts on its' face. The directions are right on and the actual coords are:

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in February 1997.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
