TO REACH THE MARK FROM THE JUNCTION OF TRUNK HIGHWAY 20 AND TRUNK HIGHWAY 19 IN CANNON FALLS, GO NORTH ON TRUNK HIGHWAY 20 FOR 1.85 MI (3.0 KM) TO A ROAD TO THE LEFT, TURN LEFT AND GO WEST FOR 0.25 MILES (0.4 KM) TO THE MARK ON THE LEFT. RECOVERY NOTE BY DAKOTA COUNTY MINNESOTA 1996 (RGS) THE STATION WAS RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION. THE STATION IS LOCATED ABOUT 1.7 MI (2.7 KM) NNW OF THE CITY OF CANNON FALLS IN THE SW 1/4 OF SECTION 6, T112N, R17W. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE JCT OF TH 20 AND GOODHUE CO RD 29 AT THE NORTH EDGE OF CANNON FALLS, GO NORTH FOR 0.9 MI (1.4 KM) ON TH 20, THEN TURN LEFT AND GO WEST ON 285TH ST 0.25 MI (0.40 KM) TO THE STATION ON THE LEFT. THE STATION IS A STANDARD ALUMINUM DISK WITH MAGNET ATTACHED TO THE TOP OF A 3/4 INCH BY 18 FT (5.5 M) ALUMINUM ROD DRIVEN TO SUBSTANTIAL RESISTANCE. THE STATION IS 32 FT (9.8 M) SOUTH OF THE CENTER OF 285TH ST, 19 FT (5.8 M) EAST OF AN ENTRANCE EXTENDED, 58.4 FT (17.8 M) SSE OF THE SW COR OF A BRICK GATE POST, 58.6 FT (17.9 M) WEST OF A P-POLE, 57.2 FT (17.4 M) SOUTH OF RM 1, 55.4 FT (16.9 M) WEST OF RM 2, AND 3.2 FT (1.0 M) EAST OF A WIT POST. RECOVERY NOTE BY DAKOTA COUNTY MINNESOTA 1999 (RGS) STATION WAS DISTURBED BY ROAD CONSTRUCTION. AS THE DISK AND ROD PROTRUDED AFTER GRADING, THE DISK WAS REMOVED, ROD DRIVEN DEEPER AND DISK RECAPPED. STATION NEEDS TO BE REPOSITIONED.

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by GPS observations and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in January 1997. No horizontal observational check was made to the station.
  • The orthometric height was determined by GPS observations and a high-resolution geoid model.
  • The X, Y, and Z were computed from the position and the ellipsoidal ht.
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The ellipsoidal height was determined by GPS observations and is referenced to NAD 83.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
