Recovered as described on Rte 98 south of Elba, NY. There has been some recent activity near herre, as someone has spray painted on the road, "ELBA" with an arrow pointing towards the mark. I found that kind of amusing. There has been some digging near the mark, and the cover was found loose nearby. Some pink surveyor tape also. I dug out some dirt from the marker tube, and replaced the cover when I left. "Try to leave things better than you found them" - that's what I learned in Scouts.

I found this marker today while on my way to Batavia. It is right next to Rt. 98 with a plastic marker identifying it as a survey marker. With no snow it was easy to locate. The marker is in good shape.
