Wench's benchmark multi cache brought me here.

WOW - that's insane that FIFTEEN YEARS went by between logging this benchmark! Congrats hempmage on finding it! I found this one doing a multicache right near here. I don't have a fancy GPS but maybe need to some up with some unique swag to take a photo with to upload as a benchmark pic. This is only the 6th one I've logged.

I stopped by this benchmark whole completing Hempmage's new multi cache. This metal rod has survived MANY floods, but it still manages to survive!

I hadn't paid too much attention to benchmarks until late last year, since then I've had a really great time hunting some down. Turns out, I have a cache very near this mark, so I've walked by it plenty of times! Today I headed over here to take a look at this one. Found it without a problem and confirmed its designation. This one is in much better shape than ROC74-1B, but it still has some leaves and dirt inside, no doubt from the flooding. In fact, I'm not sure just how the lid is still here, this one would have been well under flood waters a number of times last year alone.

Found as described. Description is adequate.

Easy to find, but requires a good walk from nearest parking. Benchmark is located only a few feet from the Mississippi River along the Ben Butterworth Parkway in Moline, IL (You can see rip-rap along riverbank in background of picture)
Found this one very early in a.m.
Also of interest, there was a large black cloth spread on the ground around it with a white X with the marker in the center as well as a wooden stake with ribbons on it driven into the ground next to it. (see pictures)
This could be due to the fact that there is a large project building condos nearby and someone came to highlight it for the surveyors?
Perhaps they were doing an aerial mapping project and marked this with the cloth for visibility from the air? Your guess is as good as mine.

This is the stake near the benchmark with the numeric name on it.

Found while working QCA 8. Was not aware of such an abundance of survey markers.

Experimenting with an older Magellan 2000 and found this one

Found this one with a Mag. 2000 and a PDA w/GPS.

Found it @ 2:43 pm.
Passed many times before and did't see it.

Found it and photographed it. Coordinates were right on. See pictures
